Current Research
HOUSED Lab is always developing new research, here we list the current projects and new ideas we are working on
Street View Sensing
2024 | Research Methods | Housing
Together with Dr. Zhai and Ph.D. Student Haoming Qin, we are collecting high resolution Street View Images to better understand and refine our previous models for housing demolition perception and housing quality overall.
Predicting Demolition orders
2023 | Research Methods | Housing
Together with Dr. Zhai, we use the power of AI methods to combine demolition records with Street View Images to predict demolition records.
We hope this will help to prevent future demolitions by targeting help to those households predicted to have a demo order in the future, as well as assess potential housing quality bias during the code-enforcement process.
Big Data Gentrification Index
2023 | Research Method | Housing
We created a gentrification index from household-level residential mobility records from DataAxle.
This method is an improvement to traditional gentrification metrics that only use proxies of gentrification, by actually tracking residents that are replaced by others with higher-income paying higher prices for the same dwelling.
